Tanganyikan Scavenging Tank Mates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
snails...the bio load is at a fraction of a pleco. and it mixes well with a tanganyika biotope.

careful with those brichardi as they tend to get extremely aggro especially when breeding. I had some and gave them away in a trade and the guy kept them in a species tank. within 2 months, he has already lost 4 due to aggression. also, make sure that bichir has plenty of rockwork to hide in

yeah i have noticed the aggression. I currently have 2 Brichardis that can get pretty nasty but I have ALOT of rock work and some piping which allows the bichir to hide behind. I probably wouldn't buy the Brichardi again though.

Look into a Gnathochromis Permaxillaris,if you can find one.

Get synos
Nothing like a team of synos,I have a group of multipunctatus myself but if he is up for something different, the Gnathochromis is like a T anganyican eartheater.

Yeah, Synodontis are alright, but I'm in agreement with krichardson.

Gnathochromis permaxillaris are a bit of an oddball, and they'll continue sift through the gravel like a Geophagus, just differently (you'll see). Very impressive fishes.
