Tangs in a 20 long?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How about some shellies? There are few species/varieties of shell dwellers available and you could have a group in a 20 L as they are tiny fish

Shellies would be great, a pair of Julies.

I haven't actually kept any species exclusively known as shellies. The closest I've had are N. brichardi that did enjoy their shells, but didn't live exclusively in them. I've heard several people recommend a male with 2-3 females, but I have no experience myself. There might be enough room in a 20L for two pairs/groups, but I'd wait until someone more experienced with shellies chimes in.

I have a plan to do another Tang. tank when I have the money, but that might be a little while...

definitely go with ocellatus if you ask me. They are truly fascinating, although more aggressive than multifasciatus from my experience. Either way, love watching them, very fun little cichlids

Thanks for the link mahemahe. The ocellatus are pretty cool little fish. My lfs actually carries them.:headbang2 Cichlaholics, how many do you suggest? I would like to breed them if it's possible in an aquarium. What type of ratio do you suggest? Thanks

Well I'm leaning towards ocellatus and/or brevis'. Can they coexist? I prefer harem breeders. I can't find a lot of breeding info on these fish on the web. Any and all info or links is appreciated.
