Tank background

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Those stick on backgrounds with a planted photo always look fake to me.
I spray paint a panel of styrofoam insulation black.
It hides cords and other stuff, and helps maintain a stable temp if the power goes out ( I usually put the panels on the back, two small sides, and the bottom).
The black also really helps with fish photography, most other colors tend to look fake, and weird (to me)
but examples below, you be the judge as to what looks better

Spray painted painted black with Krylon Fusion, or if already in place rolled on with hobby store flat latex paint.

Future board -- not as nice looking as polyurethane rock panels but easy to change the color if you or fish get bored.

how do you prefer to handle the background of your tank? Stick on picture? Do you paint it? If so, what color and type of paint??
Im new to the whole aquarium world so i have a 29G. I used a stick on but id like to make an insert from cellcast with dry coves for a crab. Aquarium safe paint has been my hold up.
