in the next few months i will be building a 10' by 6' by 4' tank for my RTCxTSN and pacu and a few other fishy friends, Ive been researching ways to seal the tank since the "box" part of it will be made out of plywood. i want to have a 6' by 2' viewing window on the front to cut down on my glass cost and im thinking of putting a pond liner in to seal the wood. my question is how can you get a good seal between the EPDM rubber liner and the glass. i know i saw a thread somewhere about a guy who put a glass window in his EPDM lined indoor pond, but i cant seem to find how he did it anywhere.

The only thread rember seeing using pond liner the window was acrylic. He drilled through the acrylic and bolted it to the tank . I don't recall the specific thread or what he used for a gasket.

ya i know ive seen it and using a liner would really cut costs on sealing the whole tank but i need to hear some input on what would bond between the EPDM and the glass? anyone out there who has done this before or who knows about anything that would work to seal it?

I remember the thread youre talking about I dont remember the posters name but I do know he was overseas and he said at the end that he sold the tank the stuff he used to glue everything with can only be found overseas I looked into it because it seemed pretty simple and way cheaper than the regular sealants for wood good luck I hope someone can point you in the right direction

i work with epdm in my constuction business and can tell you with certainty that glues designed for epdm will not stick to glass. a compression seal with urathane caulk would be compatible to both but i dont know if thats safe for the aquarium water.
