Same here, mine were lazy as heck. Seems like the only algae they will eat is that one that wouldn't grow in my tank!

LOL my otos are hard workers, they especially enjoy the blast from the koralia evo 1400 ;)

Makes them work harder.:D

Maybe I just don't have enough of them... to keep them scrounging around. How many Oto's per Gallon for a medium density planted aquarium? What would you suggest for a 20G?

nice tank but are thoses 2 out lets to a sump if is then thats a bad idea cause when the power is out then the whole tank with drain until it reaches down there and if your sumps not big then your floorr will be wet so just take pvc and raise it

Right, great observation. When first initial setup for the tank was up and running; both outlets were fitted to run with canister filters. Soon after, all the soft lines were simply switched over to pvc. The tank now runs on a sump, and yes; I also added fittings inside the tank to work with the sump. Meaning that there is extended plumbing to maintain safe water levels in case of a power-outage. ;) Overflow and returns are safe and well above minimum/maximum water levels.

I have about 6 Oto's in mine. Do you feed your Oto's?

I have 2 in mine and I feed them once a week .. if that .. with some cucumber. They keep the glass clean. :) I was going to get 1 or 2 horned or zebra nerite snails and see if they help.

I dont feed my oto's. Anyhow, my nerite snails are awesome, they work hard and are very hardy.

Thanks guys, I really didn't have an issue with algae until I pulled out all the Hygro. Since the hygro has been out of the tank, I have began to experience some really nice green algae which just blankets the anubias, but I'm planning on combating the algae with a different set of lights. The current lights on the tank now is 4 X 28watt T5's.
