And not one person directed him to our calculator (Conversions) at the top of the page...pure gold, :newbie:'s.

That is just because the one we posted are saved in our favorites. If I use the MFK one, I go right to it. No need to bookmark it seeing as though I live on MFK.

the best easy fast way to do it
is lenght X width X height = divide it by/ 230 comes really close evertime for me as i buy used tanks alot
good luck i hop it works for you let me know ty

1 cubic inch = .0043 gallons, or you could be more accurate .00432900433.

So Length * Width * Height * .0043 = Gallon Volume.

96*24*24 = 55296 cu/ins * .0043 = 237.77 Gallons
96*24*24* .00432900433 = 239.38
96*24*24* .00434 = 239.38

96*24*24 = 55296 cu/ins / 230 = 240.41 Gallons.

If you take, 240 Gallons and divide it by 96/24/24 you will get .004347826......
So your 230 number is the same as .004347826..... I would say that is pretty darn close. Either way will work I suppose. The Number, 231 may be more accuate.

96*24*24 / 231 = 239.376623... (Round up to 239.38, same answer as .00434)
231 = .00432900432.....(I am not sure but that is like, a bilianth of a whole number off. haha. )

I too like to do it the mathimatical way :) Props for adding an equation to which many do not know.

Found a TYPO!
96*24*24* .00434 = 239.38..96
.00434 is incorrect. I meant .00433. Sorry. The decimal for the number 230 is still correct though.

*24*24 / 231 = 239.376623... (Round up to 239.38, same answer as .00434)
Its not the same but close to .00433 and is much closer to .00432900433

Also, 96*24*24*0.00433 = 239.43.

Could a MOD edit my above post? PM me if you would like to know where to change. It would help the members understand better.

BTW, for those that chose a sump based on the advertised size, do the calculations. You may be surprised that your tank is 2-5 gallons less than the advertised amount. Possibly more too. Without taking into consideration the glass thickness.
