Tank carnage....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice tank and that puffer is awesome! I agree, let her be tank queen. Hopefully she continues to play nice.

Thanks for the comments.. so I discussed the issue with my fish guy from my favourie lfs and we basically worked out that this was all my fault!! 2 days ago I did my usual weekly %50 water change.... however I forgot we had a cold snap here and the tap Water going into the tank, instead of being 10-12 degrees (it meant the tank water only dropped a few degrees) was closer to 4-5 degrees! So the tank water dropped closer to 15 degrees... arghh! So basically the pike figured it was spring breeding season and decided to clear the tank to spawn... what a F up! It's tough enough to lose 2 of your 3 favourite fish... but it's another to realise you directly caused it.. there is a very rude word beginning with a C that I feel like now...

One for the Lessons Learned thread. Try not to feel bad. We've all made mistakes that in hindsight we've learned from. Look at it this way, you've learned something from this and so will make you a better aquarist.

Thanks... if there is a silver lining then it's that the fahaka (named Stone Cold by the misses) is SO much happier! She is bouncing up and down the glass front demanding food all day.. the oscar is happier and hungry as well.. not what I would call a blessing in disguise but a learning point. Predators may 'exist' together but there is more too a enjoyable in a happy community tank. Rather eye opener for a bloke that likes big bitey fish..

^ you puffer definitelt will get more ans more outgoing with less tankmates in the tank... especially since they dont really like being crowded...

Wow! Beautiful Fahaka!! My daughter now wants one, hahaha. I have to break her heart and tell her no. That fish must be awesome at feeding times.
Does it follow you around like the little puffers do?
