This sucks:irked:
I did my weekly water change(30% -40%) and tank cleaning. The tank is a 100 Gal with one Flowerhorn in it. It is filtered with a Eheim 2217 and a AC 110. Water is always very clear.
Last weekend I thought I would take some extra time and do a special deep down cleaning. After a lot of time and hard work everything was perfect! ;)
BUT WAIT! I have not cleaned the AC110 in quite a while (why would I, the tank is so clean)
I think you all know where this is going.
I pulled the basket with it running. It looked like I took a bucked of mud and dumped it in the tank!:cry:
Panic sets in and I quickly do another 40% WC. Too late, the water was so dirty I could barely see the fish. The good news is fish OK and water cleared up after a day.
Anybody have the same experience please share. It might make me feel better… Or not.

Ouch. I started water a water change on one of my tanks before work one day. Got it drained, put Prime in and had to leave for work. My wife said she'd fill it for me. An hour later I get a call, Honey there's something wrong. The water looks like mud.

Turns out the water company was flushing pipes in my area and had stirred up a ton of sediment. Luckily no fish lost, cleared up a day later.

That happend to me too when I used a HOB filter I tried to pull the media slowly without turning the filter off then bam dirt all over the tank there were times I was succesfull in doing it but most of the time failure.

i do it all the time on the HOB but only happens with the canister when i clean the media and there is some debris left.

"fogging" the tank is pretty normal around my house as well... no need to do any emergency waterchanges or anything.. the "uck" was in the filters.. every drop of water in the tank comes in contact with it several times an hour... its just a bit unsightly but if you let the tank run for a bit it will clear itself up..
