So I just set up my 90g with white sand a couple weeks ago. I have a 1 inch flowerhorn, a 4 inch jack dempsey, 2 inch gold nugget pleco and a 4 inch bushynose pleco.

I feed them half a cube of blood worms, and around 5 total sinking pellets a day. The next morning more then 40% of my tank sand is covered with fish poop. Am I feeding too much? I have been trying to clean this poops as best I can every morning but this is getting ridiculous. I did not think I was feeding too much.

This picture was taken last night. I cleaned the tank yesterday morning...

I think I will have to get rid of the bushy nose.

just clean it more often.

It just one problem with sand. but its also a good side.

Don't get rid of the bushy nose. It will be your main algae cleaner in your tank. Just clean the tank more often.

gold nugget pleco & bushynose pleco = poop machines.

I have to agree with Redearsunfish! I have a tank with the white sand subtrate and only do the standard 50% water change weekly. I have three Florida Gar, an Endicheri Bichir, a Palmas Palmas Bichir, two Buttikoferi Tilapia and a Jaguar cichlid in there. They eat around a quarter to a half pound of meat (market shrimp, fish fillet, scallop ...) a day along with a handful of pellet food, with not as much poop after seven days as you have in one!

The occasional load of feeder goldfish ~ 20 -> 30 do however cause these monsters to greatly increase their "poop" output.

Don't feel bad though. I do have some common Highfin Spotted Plecos in other tanks and they NEVER stop crapping! I feel like kicking myself in the rump for getting four in the Petsmart $1 sale! Never again!

Yep blame the BN and the driftwood. They eat the wood and crap it out, BN plecos are ideal for planted tanks, I would never recomend one for other kinds of tanks.
