First off before i even attempt to ask for help id like to take a moment to say i'm new here (first post actually). Please be gentle haha. Ive been to many sites and read non stop for the last 3 weeks but to no avail...This site however looks promising, the few posts Ive read had the cog wheels turning pretty quick but none have worked so far  ...My 350 gallon "sucker" tank has issues...cooling issues to be exact, tried keeping the shop at 60 degrees and it's still too hot...also tried all sorts of DIY posts Ive seen so far it's only been a waste of time and money, the tanks an old bulk milk tank i got from a dairy company that was bought out a few years ago it's insulated quite well which is pretty good for a couple days keeping the water at around 65 degrees Celsius which is alright for suckers but with the business growing i need to use it to house the medium - small sized finescale dace and the chubbs and they like it a bit cooler 10 degrees cooler to be exact...does anyone have any ideas on how to cool it down (with out purchasing another chiller unit) any help would be greatly appreciated i can post pictures if need be...

Thanks in advance

you could go diy chiller , get a small fridge drill 2 holes in the front bunch as much pipe in there as you can then run it back out the fridge, connect up to a pump and add a temp sensor somewere into the loop andd you got a 2 grand chiller for under 100 quid or so :headbang2
infact you might want a big frige lol

:screwy: 65 degrees Celsius = 149 degrees Fahrenheit :screwy:

from what i read diy frig coolers break the frig after short time , the condenser just can't keep up for such prolonged time and was not meant to.

Sorry... Fahrenheit, tried using freezer with thin walled aluminum and like nfored mentioned the chest freezer could not keep up on warmer days...still reading and trying whatever i can....might just buy a commercial freezer and modify it for bait...might be my only option

What temperature does the water come out of the mains at? Maybe you could set up a drip system, and throw in a few ice cubes for good measure :D

What about the ground? Can you bury a lot of piping and run water through it?

why dont u just try and find an ice cube maker on craigs ist, on of the automatic ones they put in freezers, and have it drop ice cubes in your tank

Sounds to me like you have something heating the water. It should not be that warm on its own. I would try an isolate what is generating the heat. I would start with the pump.

^ yeah if the tank is above room temp something is heating it, pump or lighting but i'm guessign lightind isn't an issue.

Also as mentioned burying line under ground could be usefull. If this is a large set up, or needs to be. One deep geothermal well is most effective. But a horizontal one can work as well, only needs to be about 6 feet deep. Contant mid 50's temp.

Running through a spraybar down a curtain made of window screen will cool alot of water. If you put a fan on it, it will cool it further. Like a swamp cooler.

Check on internal equipment heating the tank as mentioned before.
