Running through a spraybar down a curtain made of window screen will cool alot of water. If you put a fan on it, it will cool it further. Like a swamp cooler.

Might as well turn it into an algae scrubber while he's at it :naughty:

...My 350 gallon "sucker" tank has issues...cooling issues to be exact, tried keeping the shop at 60 degrees and it's still too hot...Thanks in advance

Welcome to MFK. how big is the tank your trying to cool? I find it hard to give anything overly usefull when I don't know how many gallons we're working with.

Great to be useful, but it is very useful to read 1st! :D

Algae scrubber? With a strong light it would potentially scrub nitrate.
Algae scrubber? Please enlighten. :)

Potentially? lol It could be the best nitrate scrubber out there. Basically you flow water down a vertical screen so it coats it. Kinda like if you pored a glass of water on a house screen. You don't want the water going through you just want it to run down the screen. Then you put a strong light on both sides of that screen and wait. Eventually you will have a thick layer of algae on both sides of the screen. Once a week or so scrap one side of the screen clean and throw away the green stuff. No more nitrates.
Big Derail sorry OP

Okay tank cooling is what we do here in the desert (Phoenix AZ) If your ambient room temps are 60 then the water should be 60 or your adding heat. No lights, the fish don't need them. I only turn on my lights during feeding and when I'm sitting there watching my fish. The room lighting lights it up good enough. External pumps are the best for not transferring heat. Covers are bad, keep that top open. On very hot days I point a fan at the waters surface. This will increase evaporation and cool the tank a great deal. If that doesn't work your going to need a chiller.

Thanks to all who posted your help and ideas have made me get to thinking again (uh oh) haha...I contaced the Town and there is no way i can dig here (water main on one side and sewers on the other) which made me think again...maybe coolings not the issue ? The bait fish i carry generally live in shallow ponds and creeks right ? who says they can't handle temps in the 60's in the store right ?, I packed up the dog and the thermometer and went and checked out the creeks/ponds in the area where i know the fish are trapped and they were mid 60's in temp (some shallower ones were even a bit warmer due to the hot temps we've been having) so maybe it's water conditions causing the losses ? Thinking maybe a large pond filter instead of the sediment filters and smaller (600 gallon bio filter) ive been running  Only problem is no matter which style of pump i get i keep sucking up minnows or they get stuck on the mesh/screen of the pumps and i cannot find a hole saw strong enough to drill through the incredably stong material the tanks made of..

Again, thank you all for posting you guys ROCK :headbang2

since your only keeping these fish short term, you might be able to up the airation to compensate for the higher temps. could be something cheap to try at least.
