use those black fabric tapes or whatever you call them. one piece is soft and the other is rough and feels like sand paper. when you put them together they stick and make some noise when you pull them apart. sorry bout the bad descriptioin but youll know wht im taking about.

its a strap thats what i use to.

before, my original cover was a glass canopy but my aro broke it into pieces good thing i was there. then i thought about plexiglass customed cut to fit my tank. I think its better because it somewhat aborb impacts by flexing when my aro goes crazy. And then i siliconed straps 2 ft apart into the plexiglass and the tank's steel frame. Worked good!
