For those who have 100G+ tanks are you worried about the tanks cracking? Leaks?

I want to buy a new one but I cannot imagine my tank breaking on me, my hardwood floor will be destroyed.

How do you convince yourselves to take this risk?

the same way i convince myself to take a shower. shure i could slip and break my neck, and shure my tanks could blow, but why worry bout "what ifs"?

Flood insurance.

...maybe I should look into some. :nilly:

Well, you do live in the state with the highest risk of flood anyways...

Btw, it is a calculated risk. Statistically it is quite low coming from cracks or leaking seams. There is a better chance of flooding from clogged plumbing or faulty overflows.

Are they statistics really in my favor? How long do they usually last?

Is it safer to buy no brand name acrylic tanks instead of brand name glass tanks?

Actually after the fact...Yes...Had I known the horror stories I do now.
I do love big tanks though and keep hoping to get my own home so I can keep larger tanks ( 100 +) again. I do think I would take more precautions knowing what a larger tank can do in damage when it leaks.

My big tank is cracked.. but its repaired... its been 3 months since the repair.. and so far so good.. Its a 150 gallon... bottom right corner is cracked....

I think u need to be sure that the area is level and ur tank isn't wobble.. and also make sure u have reinforcement bracing on it.... to prevent the tank from moving.....

Best advice i can say is if ur house is not big enough.. DONT get a big tank... avoid areas that you travel alot.. in and out of the house... :)

My house is 4000 sq ft, I plan to place it on a load bearing wall (next to house's outer wall)

I prefer to place it in the middle of my my house though, next to a wall, I don't know how much load it can take though.

I have no idea what my basement looks like because it is finished.

How did you tank crack? I think I want a 5x2x2 150Gallon tank.

Nah nah worries here , Keep it level and inspect it well before installing. I am not going to jinx myself but if you have a good stand and the tank is level front to back and side to side. You are all good.
