hi folks,
i am currently having a 50gal tank that i didnt cycle and it has been running for 2months now.. i knew nothing about the cycle as am new to this hobby.. i have 2 oscar and, 1 flowerhorn there. thankfully they are not showing any stresses or isues or whatsoever. they swim actively and eat a lot.
short story, since now i just know the importance of having a fully cycled tank, and i am getting a 220 gal tank in about 2-3 weeks (already ordered and paid, it is in the making process atm), i would be crying if i have to wait another 3-5 weeks after the tank arrives before i can put my aro there for the tank cycle to complete. that will be at least 2 more freakin months before i can have my aro.
recently, i have bought 3 fluval fx6 as part of the preparation for the 220 gal tank. if i run those fx6 to my current 50 tank, my questions are
1- for the next 3 weeks in the waiting of the new tank to arrives, would i have the sufficient benefical bacterias in my 3 fx6 for my new 220 gal tank? my fishes should produce a lot of amonia in the next 3 weeks since they have a really good appetite. and i am only going to put one 15cm super red aro in that 220 gal tank.
2- if it is a yes for my question #1, then if i move those fx6 to my new tank, could i consider that im almost done with the tank cycle for my 220 gal tank? since i already have plenty/sufficient bacterias in my biological filters? which is why we need the tank to be cycled.
3- am i just gonna destroy everything by putting an extra 3 units of fx6 in 50 gal tank?
4- any other ideas on what to do with my 3 fx6 while i am waiting for the new tank to arrives?
5- i read it somewhere that it is not really important to wait to the cycle to complete if you have a REALLY BIG TANK with only one fish in it. the toxics wont build up fast enough to harm the fish, as long as the filtration is more than enough.. is that true?
thanks!!
