Tank cycle question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I live in Indiana, basically we're on a limestone bedrock sheet so my ph is like 8.2-8.4 I decided to find fish that can live in my water instead of trying to make my water match my fish. I'd never keep up without installing a RO system or something which I'm not prepared to do.

Looks like my tap water on the high range PH is 7.4 so not bad. Man I’m going to do another test on my tank no idea why my PH is so high in there. Ok tested again I just have screwed up first test on my tank but PH is about 8.0 still quite a bit higher than my tap.

I really appreciate the feedback on this. I have canceled my order for the wild dwarf flag as being wild it definitely won’t work. Sticking with my HRP and then a F1 andinoscara cf. doeryleopunctqtus

WhatWhats your tank look like? pic? Got any Crushed coral or limestone rocks in there that might be raising ph?

nope just some fake plants and some SpongeBob decorations I got new. I did get a faux rock thing in the corner that was used in a hermet tank. Idk doesn’t make sense. The sand is black diamond blasting sand. Tank decorated for my toddler lol

I recognize that pineapple! Lol i have 3 kids and they helped decorate my tank. Plants and driftwood can help lower your ph some, but not sure how much. I'm

is That a 90? The stand and the sand look so clean being white. I almost went with white sand off eBay form this guy but was on a limited budget so I just went with the black diamond sand. The white looks to nice though. Lol tank looks good.

Thanks! yeah it's a 90, same footprint as the 55/75 but taller. I really want a 6' someday, but this is my biggest yet, maybe when the kids move out in 15 years haha. I actually went with a commercial aquarium sand and probably overpaid but it was the last step and I wanted my tank running. I used stoney river its actually beach tan but with the led it looks white. I did the black sand for 9 years with my old 60g tank and wanted a fresh start, but loved the black whjle I had it. Planning to try a green terror pair, so may have to rearrange my driftwood to the middle to give each a territory, and add more rocks/wood to make some hidey holes for my pictus cats, but for the first few months the kids enjoy seeing their decorations, then they'll forget and I'll change it.

oh that’s going to be A nice stock. Have never had a GT but they are awesome looking. I’m adding what resembles a GT from Kevin at TUIC but they only get to be about 5” and are peaceful. I have a 210 at my moms with a 30 inch hybrid catfish( tank is too small but it’s what he’s got unfortunately) but when he does I’ll bring it home. He’s around 8-9 years old.
