Tank filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Anyone realize that earth eater front center above the black stone has HLLE, you have to maintain higher water quality especially now make sure your tank has beneficial bacteria. Buy a bottle of start up and start doing some serious water changes

I have those plants on the back for the filter I just change them that's y they look so clean today. It's fustrating that this is happing. It sucks big time I also put bacteria supplement aquarium salt and the prime. I just wanted to go back to normal

You should never change out the filter media, even though the filter manual says to. You should simply take out the midia/sponge/whatever and rinse it out in a bucket of tank water you removed during a water change. The cloudiness you are seeing is because you changed out the filter media and by doing that you removed all of the beneficial bacteria that was housed within the filter. This is why you have ammonia and a cloudy tank. You need to do some large daily water changes to keep your ammonia down until your filter grows new beneficial bacteria. If you do not keep the ammonia down then your fish will likely die.

As for the filter, it looks ok, but I would still recommend adding another one to the tank. It will give you redundancy, more flow and more filtration.

OK thanks

The best thing you can do is swap your current filter for a canister filter. Eheims are the best you can get when it comes to canisters, and a 2215 would suit your tank well. Since your tank is just beginning the process of cycling, I wouldn't worry about the media, as there should be some bacteria in the water column and on the gravel, decor, etc... of the tank.

Seachem Stability works well for cycling tanks. I've gone through many bottles of it, and it does as claimed.
