If you are going to build it take your time as your polys will not grow to max size over night and if you are only keeping polys the 8x3x3 tank is not needed you could go say like 8x3x2 and save some money

yes... 8x2x2.. the polys just not need height, because they to take some air,right?

I've seen ornates around 18in the aquarium
senegals, delhizis, poli.s usually dont grow beyond around 1 foot
