tank idea

Silicone is useless on the materials you'll be working with. it bonds glass to glass well but thats about it. Is it worth doing?....well personally when ever I see a set up like your talking about building I hear the theam song from Sanford and son running through my head...IMO...no. Just use the tub the way it is and view the fish from above or use the tubs for breeders. As a main display...it's just too ghetto for words....

well the reason why i'm doing it with tubs is cause i want to be able to do a cheap way in order to have a big tank... i aint allowed anything over my 30 gallon but if i make this and it works then i'm pretty sure i could keep it in my basement without problems... it wont be a show tnak... but i sure do love the fish and i would love to have a big tank... check out my 90 gal tub tnak idea... i wanted t put the windows in so i could do that and be able to see the fish

Use S.S. screws, washers & nuts so you can keep the torque even and you don't have to learn how to rivet :D.

How 'Huge' are these tanks? are you sure you can get them into the basement... Post a pic.

they arent really tanks... they r more like big plastic tubs... n yeah they are already in my basement.... its like the big tubs u store stuf fin except these are 30 gallons the smallest size

SILICON FROM INSIDE SO IT CANT BUST OUT. MAKE SURE YOU USE AQUARIUM SAFE SILICON. PUT ONE FROM OUTSIDE TO FOR BACKUP IF THERE IS WATER BETWEEN TWO WINDOWS AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS, OH WELL IT DIDNT WORK.

For all that trouble..you'd be better off just buying a tank. Get a 40G Breeder tank..its 36" L x 18" W x 16" H...not much bigger or even the same size as your plastic tubs.

Why take the chance to have leaks or the tub burst open where your "viewing" glass will be and loose your fishes?

it would be cheaper cause i already have the tubs in my possession... and i really do believe i can make it work... so i have been asking for advice on it cause i really would love a bigger tank ( what i wanna do if then attach 3 tubs and make 3 30 gal tubs into a 90 gal... ( i will have 5 " diam connection so fish could swim through)

Midnight put a viewing window in the lid of this type of container. I wouldn't risk the leak by putting a window on the side. It sounds like you will be pushing the limits of what these tubs can withstand. They don't have rigid support so every hole you cut in these weakens them. Prevent a disaster and make no hole in the sides, IMO.
