Tank in garage?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I live in Central Cal and while it does get up to 105 outside in daytime, it's lower humidity and my garage (attached to house) gets to around 85 or lower.

If I had a tank in my garage, tank temps would go up in the day and decline at night. Maybe I'd use a heater to keep it from dropping below 77, but otherwise I'd just make some small adjustments to keep daytime from going over 84. That swing (77-84) is quite normal for many fish over a 24 hour cycle.

A fan, a little more water spray, a small bag of ice cubes, a 15 gallon WC each evening with 60F water, covering any garage windows, etc would keep things in line when it hits 110 for me.

When it's 90 outside, the garage would be roughly a perfect 75-79, so I would only have to deal with those higher level heat waves.

My garage is attached but it gets really hot in there when it's hot out.

Next time it gets really hot, you should check to see the temp in the garage. I'm in oc and even when it's super hot outside, my garage is the coolest area in the house usually but it never gets above 90 and when I had my tank in there, 84 was the highest it ever got even when it was over 100 outside
