Tank is Cracked!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry to hear...

Unfortunately, i wish i would have seen this sooner. A small crack like that is actually easy to fix. Need a small diamond coated drill bit($10) , some silicone and a piece of 6mm glass.

Empty the tank, drill a small hole where the crack ended, then patch the crack with silicone and a glass sheet over it(big enough to overlap by a couple inches)

The drilled hole will stop it from cracking any further, while the glass patch repairs it.

I'm going to keep this in mind for future reference. I'm able to make do with my situation and fortunately my warranty was honored. Not sure if the patch/repair would've voided the warranty or not though.

I just got a call from my lfs regarding the tank. They said the company didn't have any in stock and they placed a special custom order for my replacement tank. She said the bad news is that it could take up to 5-7 weeks to actually get my replacement! WHAAAAAT!

I'm trying to figure out what to do in the meantime with the fish. This is a really bad blow.

Looks to me like an excuse to get an extra/backup tank that for a short time can support your fish. Start checking local Craigslist for something to use in the meantime.

Yeah I'm heading down that route already. I will probably buy a temporary 75/90 and have it running by Saturday.

I would ask if you could upgrade to the 210g size.

all your equipment will still work and it will fit on your stand.

its the same tank as the 180g just 6" taller.

if they have one you won't have to wait 7 weeks. and you get an even bigger tank to boot.

win win.

They won't honor that. Only if they quit making their lineup of 180s would they.
