Tank is Cracked!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would ask if you could upgrade to the 210g size.

all your equipment will still work and it will fit on your stand.

its the same tank as the 180g just 6" taller.

if they have one you won't have to wait 7 weeks. and you get an even bigger tank to boot.

win win.

We don't really want to do that. It already is a hassle enough just to get this replacement.

What about if you paid them for the difference in cost of tanks ?

Wow this sucks

Not worth the hassle.

Turns out my lfs was able to locate a distributor nearby that did have a 180 in stock. They are going to get if for me in next week's shipment. I am still going to go fwd with buying the 90 at a decent price to buy the fish more time. It will be cramped a bit but will make the transition easier on everyone including the fish. I'll be able to cycle the tank a bit better and not be in as much a rush to get it set up and make a stupid snap decision.

I'm very glad my lfs went out of their way to help me out.

I'm not enjoying the ups and downs of this fiasco at all however necessary it is.

I will update everyone regarding the fish in a little while. Heading home from work shortly.

Sorry to hear...

Unfortunately, i wish i would have seen this sooner. A small crack like that is actually easy to fix. Need a small diamond coated drill bit($10) , some silicone and a piece of 6mm glass.

Empty the tank, drill a small hole where the crack ended, then patch the crack with silicone and a glass sheet over it(big enough to overlap by a couple inches)

The drilled hole will stop it from cracking any further, while the glass patch repairs it.

You and your DIY! XD

Daily update

The fish are hanging in there. 3 days to go before temporary 90 will be set up. I had to move some air stones around because my green texas, severum, and dat were looking like they were slightly gasping. Not fun to see especially when it is bed time. Yikes! The others were doing fine it seemed. Even the loaches were playing tag and chasing each other so they seem fine so far.

Curious to see what I wake up to in the morning. I'm really looking fwd to having this whole issue over with. This isn't a fun thing to obsess over, I'm sure you can imagine. We will get there soon I guess. Right now I'm just focused on one day at a time.

I'll keep y'all posted (I can't believe I just typed y'all. ... lol)

Thanks. You and me both. What is surprising is that this tank wasn't even running for 3 yrs yet. I bought it brand new myself.

What is shows me is that this can happen to anyone's tank. I hope everyone has a back up plan set already. I always figured it happened to tanks people bought off Cragslist or second hand. What a wake up call for me!
