tank leaks again

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You can buy new braces for tanks. They run about $15-20. If I were you, I would think about resealing the entire tank. You run the risk of having more leaks in the future if you don't reseal it now. Same yourself some time and efort and just get it over with.

There are two things that ensure that a tank doesn't leak.

There is the actual silicone that physically holds the structure of the tank together. This is between the glass sheets.

Then there is the bead of silicone that runs over the inside glass connections.

If the silicone splits between the glass sheets and allows the glass to pull apart under load (full of water), then the entire glass pane should be removed and stripped of silicone, and reassembled. Just redoing the inside seal will not fix this type of failure (as you have seen).

I do not think a brace will help with this problem. What your tank is telling you is that the silicone between the joints is failing, and that you had better fix it properly or else :nilly:
