how does this work mate? is it the timer or the lights that do it?

The lights have a built in timer - i think this is the one aspect of my tank which i don't have a picture of else i'd post it for you, i even have a remote for them but i never use this.
I get a little memory card inside them which i can plug into my laptop and you get a programme pop up in notebook where you can type what you want but it has to be in a specific format for the light unit to understand.

I thought it was rocket science at first but a few trial runs and i figured it out - damn things don't change for the hour time difference in summer though - not that bloody clever are they

they look pretty cool, but way out of my price range! im using aquaFX lights on my 180 at the moment. im quite happy with them, but they don't make them anymore so if they die on me ill be looking for an alternative.

I think it was this one, it was star light 1 or 2 but i think this one.

those units have 5 pre fixed programs with a 28 day lunar cycle these are set in ranges of 25% but if you use the SD card you can program from 1% -100% no need for the star-light I star-light II is ideal all have the same program mainly used for reef tanks but they will add what ever colour chips you wish looking at the web site the do a fresh water range as well and there is a free draw on the face book page

Yes quite right - he specced mine to be freshwater, he told me the breakdown of light but i didn't pay any attention.

Although they're stupid in the respect they don't change the time - at least they have a plug.

Which is more than i can say for my £100 pump.

Not really hard to do thou putting your clock 1 hour fwd or back once a year, still look like the controllers are good
