Hi to all.. I had an enquiry:::

I had a 1' fish tank with 2 baby red-tail catfishes, 2 baby silvernoses, 1 baby aligator spotted gar, and 3 baby bichirs. They seems ok after i change water for 2 weeks and it all died overnight today; leaving my 3 other bichirs alive ONLY. I wonder what was the cause of it? Previously before these batch of fishes (except bichirs), similar thing happened too. Previous tank was 2 red-tail catfishes, 1 bichir, 1 other fish and they died after a week or so, leaving the bichir alive only.

I would like to ask what exactly happen in there?
All the dead fishes had a (thin) layer of white "skin" covering their whole body and their eyes. What is the cause of it? :(

white film sounds like excessive slime coating because something is irritating their bodies.

how big of a tank is this cuz that's a h*** of a stock list? how long has the tank been up and running? What are you doing for filtration? Do you test your water params?

You have a TON of fish in a very (presumably - 1 foot?) small tank. Even assuming you cycled the tank, there's no way the filtration in the tank could have kept up with the waste that the fish were producing. They most likely died due to giant increases in ammonia or nitrates.

Were you planning on KEEPING these fish in a 1' tank? Whats that like 10 gallons?

You say 3 'other' bichirs...so you had a total of:
2 red tail cats
2 silvernoses
1 gar
6 bichirs

??? Has your tank been properly cycled prior to adding fish? Are you dechlorinating your water? Whats your filtration? What are you feeding them? Whats the temperature set at?

Not nearly enough info here...

wait...he said one foot fish tank? it's only 12 inches? All directions? i'm starting to think this thread is a joke

Wow...this sounds like a mess

1) Has the tank been cycled?

2) What are you current water perameters?

3) Are the "silvernoses" needle nose gar?

4) None of the fish can live in a 12" fish tank. Not even close, a single RTC should have about 300 gallons.

I suspect a troll

SQ86...have some ?'s for you...
1. How big is the tank?
2. How long has it been running before adding any fish?
3. What and how often are you feeding them?
