Tank mate for specific reason.

Clown Loaches are fun to watch and they always seem to swim in group so would be good. Tinfoils/ Filamentus barbs are also good tank mates cause they are fast swimmers and hence would be difficult for the aro to catch. Also they would devour all the shrimps.

pleco (colored one not the common one) would be nice. L24, 25 or 114

The aro is still only small, about 10in. Do clown laoches grow big enough not to be eaten?
I must admit I like them.

the only possible problem is the tank substraight, I have pebbles and not gravel. I just read they like gravel or fine substraight, like sand.

Well a finer substrate will be better but if you can provide a hiding place with some flat surface it will work.

Aros normally dont go for the clown because of the spikes so you can take your chances.

I have had clown loaches with my jardini for around 3/4 years without any problem.
