tank mate questions

ok i have a 4" black convict that i rescued from a pet store who had him with another male in a ten gallon.. (ripped his tail to shreds) he is ok now but not sure about his temperament with other fish his size.. plus i dont want him TOUCHED by any other fish..
he is in a 55 gallon with a small pink tetra and two golden mystery snails.. they all get along fine.. (any other con would tear up the snails and tetra) anyway, i would like to get a tank divider for my snails and add another fish but what would be my best bet?? its just an idea really :grinno:RSCN2191.JPGRSCN2190.JPGRSCN2079.JPG... or.. should i just leave them all alone lol

now that is the perfect answer lol.. but, i have 40 baby cons in another 55 gallon (parents r sold) maybe when they get a bit bigger i can select a female for him.. but what about the snails and tetra? ugh i just dont think they "belong" in this tank even tho he doesnt bother them.. another con would destroy them :( this sux lmao
 
I once had a big male convict in a 55 gallon and someone told me to get a salvini as a tankmate. The salvini quickly beat the crap out of my convict, and every other fish I tried to mix him with. Maybe mine was a rebel...
 
oh lord lol i knew it would be a tricky one.. cons r difficult, as specially mine with his history.. i dont even know what a salvini is rofl.. but big papa doesnt need anymore pain :( the store i got him from said he was with a female white con.. WRONG! it was a male :( so he has been thru hell!! but quit spunky! he isnt aggressive that i can see (being with a pink tetra and snails)[video]https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=2154872433332[/video]

i agree every fishes personality is different, thats why its so tricky to find the right mix of tank friends ugh
 
How about add some more tetras or barbs? That way your con can still be king of the tank.

will more tetras bother his tail? well what i mean is, are they tail nippers? or the snails? (i can get a tank divider for them) thanks for the help too by the way :D
