we have a really nice electric blue jack dempsey at the place i work and i really want to get him but i dont know what other fish i can put with him? and help would be sweet.

and will he be ok in a 55 gallon ?

how big is he? and he be fine with Geo's. I have a 6" one.

better be careful not to get a mate that will eat him, he is small right now so be sure to get small fish that will grow up with him, they tend to be slow growers as apposed to oscars, which seem to be a good tank mate as long as it is not bigger than blue

how long will it take "average" for him to grow full size? and will a 55 gallon be ok for him ?

55 would be fine.

mine grew to 4ish" in about 5/6 months, after that one continued to grow now around 7" the other is about 5ish".

goephagus, green terrors can sometimes be very aggressive, better make sure all are around same size, severums will work too
they are very aggeressive. Tank mates can be geophagus, Blue Acara, keyhole cichlid.

a 55 isn't very large for an EBJD and another fish that has the potential to grow 10"s+. I would just keep the EBJD by itself. They do very well by themselves....now if this is just a grow out tank, then that's a different story...
