Tank mates for a lone RBP?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How much covering do you have? If you got plenty of plants and cover you could do a lot of different things with less risk. I know personally I've had massive luck with convicts but they nip the piranha and my 2 yoyo loaches seem to always be content. The pleco though, he lasted less than 24 hours. Figured out that wasn't going to be such a great idea when he had 5 massive body guards when I put the pleco in the bottom... I woke up and found a munch trail in the alge and a single scale the chiclids were fighting over. :(

I have 7 RBP's and a flower horn mix, and a parrot face chiclid they where intended to be feeders but ended up co-habitating with my P's....I have been thinking about adding more fish to my 240 gal tank, but I'm skeptical about buying some nice fish and end up losing money...

My guess is since they all have been in the tank since day one they all got use to one another, don't get me wrong the P's nip at the other fishes fin's all the time but that's it FOR NOW...lol

i do guppies, i get about 30 guppies, and let them keep a steady breeding population going, so there is always some activity in the tank.

Yup, kinda hard to find where I'm at. Thanks to all.

I would add more p's too. I had a lone 8'' rbp, then added 5 4'''s and then added 3 6''. There has been some nipping and mayhem(2 were gored last week), but are doing fine. I also have 2 plecos which suprisingly are flourishing and 2 cichlids; which the p's ignore for the most part.
