Alright, so I have a 1" indo dat right now, living in a 55 with a 8" red terror. Don't worry, it's safe, haha. But, I will be selling the red terror so that I can raise the dat. I am thinking about getting several cichlids as tank mates to grow along side the dat, as well as the usual dithers.

Here is what I was thinking about:

3-4 geophagus (probably jurupari or whatever else is available to me.)

1 gt (this is a maybe, all gts I've had were not aggressive and were continuously punked by my other fish, but then again, they were housed with stuff like jags. XP)

and later on, when the dat is around 5" or so, I may add some small p bass.

The thing is that I don't want any fish to outgrow the dat before it becomes too big to be lunch.

As for dithers I was thinking about starting with stuff like giant danios or just regular danios or aussie rainbow fish.

Don't worry, I'll have a 600+ gallon pond set up long before they outgrow my 55.

My mom would never let me get bichirs, lol, she hates anything that even remotely resembles worms. XP It's cause of their shape, perhaps in the future when I am rich enough to have my own house? lol.

I'm about to get some clown loaches for my 3 baby indos and maybe a small flagtail/Fei Feng. I think it will be a good combo.

Chances are most cichlids will outgrow the dats after a couple of months.

Hmm . . . what else could be possible tank mates? I know clown loaches are a definite possibility. I'm gonna buy about 50 feeder danios and let those grow to be community fish for the dat, lol. ;P Yes, I'm a cheapo. Planning on planting the tank with java moss and java fern as well. Dw, I'm gonna be getting a few more schooling fish such as giant danios as well. Would a marble gar grow too fast for the dat to keep up?
