i bought 2 reticulated rays yesterday and i currently have a sailfin pleco in the tank, the rays are about 8-9 inch in length with a 4-5 inch disc what other fish could i have with them other than geophagus???

Best to post in the stingray forum. You will probably have to rehome the pleco, they are hit or miss with rays. With retics at that size, you could keep some tetras. Are they your first rays?

+1 on keeping an eye on the pleco. They're prone to stripping slime off rays. Forget the puffer. They're a major threat towards eating the eyes and tail on rays. Even a test nip can be a disaster.

Moving this thread to the ray forum.

Tank mates that would be good choices for rays are:

Polypterus can be kept successfully together if they are similar sized.
and
Peaceful New World Cichlids can also be kept if big enough not to be eaten.

NO puffers. My sailfin and bn plecos are fine with my rays but it really depends on the individual pleco. Upper jaw prominent bichirs make great tank mates as well as clown loaches, smaller cats (I have lima and African shovelnose with mine), knifefish, and eartheaters (geos, not gynos)
