My sailfin is no trouble i've had him with malawi, tangs, oddballs, general community, angels and discus no problems. ive had it 8 years and if anything the rays will go first before the plec but yeah they have been in the same tank for a couple of days now and they are fine and haven't even showed any interest in each other.
i spoke to richard AKA aquaman45 and he said that if i was going to have any problems i would have known by now and he is regarded as a very knowledgeable man when it comes to rays and he sold me this pair :) i bought a shoal of 6 leopard danios today i know they will more than likely get eaten when my rays get larger but they seem ok for now :) im not really a fan of geophagus to be honest and the same goes for silver dollars and tin foils

I don't see you saying rays in that list it's a different story

It maybe fine now but it can change over night
Once the rays get a bit bigger and fan us a little suck on the rays it will happen

I have a buddy that has clown loaches with his. Tinfoils eat Ray poop! And so do silver dollars and there are some cool sd's out there! I'm a big fan of tigers, Redhooks and black bars.

Good luck with the Rectics! They have always given me issues because of size and growth rate of tank mates. They always end up getting beaten to food in the tank and at least the ones I have kept, have shyed away from competing for food. My best luck has been with Cichla's, they stay up top and let the rays have the bottom. Enjoy your new Rectics!!!!!!

well week 2 of having the 2 retic rays and ive had no issues with the sailfin pleco ive got 6 2-3 inch giant danios and 5 3-4 inch red fin tinfoils now i dont thin im bothering with cichlids my rays are fairly active and will even come to the surface to fetch food now,
when i first had them i was feeding live bloodworm twice a day for the first few days then moved to frozen bloodworm in the morning and live at night now they are on dried river shrimp frozen blood worm and the odd earthworm here and there i did buy 10 feeder shrimp but they didnt touch them so they are still in the tank too lol my male actually backed away when one of the shrimps came towards it oh i also fed a batch of 50 convict fry to them which they hoovered up in about 5 min i cant believe how quick they are to hunt and eat live food its incredible :) im so happy i bought these rays ive wanted them for years.
