?
Hey guys!!!
I will be getting a rtg next week around 8 inches. Yesterday at my lfs there were some gold severums around 4-5inches. I was thinking of adding one of them. I have no exprience in keeping severums, although I have kept a few arowanas before. Will the severum get aggressive and attack the aro?
Any other colorful suggestions for my arowana? I would like to only keep around 2-3 tankmates with my arowana. It is much easier to manage my tank when it is understocked

+1 severums won't last mate , my mates rtg is OK with decent sized bass or he's also had a load of blood parrots I know there not everyone's favourite looking fish but he's had success with a group of these , it hammers any solo cichlids , dats , other oddballs that's why he ended up changing things quite a lot on the years he's had him lol

:( I really liked the severums. Mate blood parrots are not for me, They are too messy. I could get a ornate bichir but Iam not sure whether he will last because he is only 4 inches long

There not for me either mate horrible things lol , I thought my ornate would get eaten by my old jardini years ago but it was one of the only fish appart from cats i got lucky with , hes still with me today 18" out lived that jar and now living with my other :D you could get lucky give him an aro proof pipe to retreat to

I will give a try for the ornate. Lets see how it goes. Iam considering some sun catfish or raphaels.

Raphs dont get big enough mate it'll either get eaten or you'll never see them I've had one in my growout tank for ten years not seen much of it lol and thats only in with small cichlids, suncats are ok in big setups with aros (check Justins out its a beast)
You not consider bigger cats like irwini ? same family as raphs but the big daddy :D Youll see a lot more of it in an aro tank

Yeah I like the look of Irwini but they are scarcely available here. A lot of polypterus species are available like endlis although they are very tiny around 3 inches. A easy meal for the rtg. How about some pbass? never had much luck with them though.Maybe a nice group of fat clown loaches

grow out or separate the ornate till abt 10-12" then you can comm them no problem
catfishes, loaches, polyps , gar, datz, blood parrot , pbass , even discus are good tankmate for arowana as long as you watch the tankmate size.
