hi all looking for a good tank mate for my rays motoro 11in disc humerosa 8in disc. was wondering wot you were keeping with yours. or will i be best keeping them on there own. did have discus in there one was killed so ive taken the rest out (to pricey to feed to rays) :)

Dats, gars, and peacock bass (large filtration needed) are the top 3 on my list for keeping with rays. I prefer dats and gars.

Asian Aros all the way:headbang2

Sounds like my tank minus the Bass. And I have heard on other forums of an Asian Arowana attempting to bully a stingray, and end up dead with a stinger in its' belly. I believe it was a Leo that would have none of it. So be careful. It's rare but not unheard of.

I would say Aros, especially for the aesthetic value. Gars also seem to make for peaceful, beautiful tankmates.

Besides a bichir, a silver aro is the only other fish to bite my rays. Although not intentional, the aro followed a piece of food to the bottom of the tank and grabbed the food just as the ray tried to get it. The aro got a nice mouth full of my rays disk and then they both bolted off.

thanks all i like the look of a gar but dont know lot about them is there on type beter than the other know the alligator gets quite big . would love a asian arowana but the prices of £500-£1500 for A RTG. p bass sounds ok to. tank size is 6x2x2. plan to go tp 7x3wide 2deep.

Are Bichirs habitual ray nibblers? I was thinking about getting one, but Ashley and I wouldn't ever want to put something in the tank that could be dangerous for our little guys and gals.
