i have a male and female JD a 3in red devil and a male and female convict in a 50g and im lookin for new fish so im thinkin about gettin a texas cichlid or what would go good in this tank?

i think you need to upgrade your tank before getting anymore fish? !

yeah that red devil is most likely going to kill everything in that tank once he puts on another inch or two, def get bigger tank first then you can think more about what to add

Get rid of the RD or plan to only grow it out and get rid of it. The others are fine, but I would not add anything to it. If you add a texas it can only be a grow out. Its up to you whether you want your tank to be a growout tank or you actually wanna keep fish for the long term. If you want something long term stock it properly. Try a bottom dweller. You can also add some dithers like danios maybe.

so should i get rid of the red devil and then get a texas cichlid cause im goin to my LFS this saturday so should i take him with me to sell?

Its up to you. Im just saying that eventually all these fish cant be in the tank together. Just the pair of JDs would be pushing it. You can get the texas, its not like its gonna hit 12 inches overnight. But as these fish grow you will have to make a decision. When you have a tank you have to make plans, do you want something long term or do you constantly wanna swap fish out?

I'd take the RD back and just leave the JD and Cons in there. In my opinion, that's more than stocked.

Texas cichlids grow about the same size as rds, so no, you shouldn't get one. They can also be just as aggressive!
