Because I consider myself a biotope aquarist, what this question really asks me, is.....what fishes would share natural habitat with Senegal Bichirs'
What fishes are found naturallly in the waters of Senegal, or other places these Bichirs may range in Africa
So meaning, what fish will make my tank a legitimate geographically correct slice of nature?
This is a different question than ¨what aquarium fish can I buy" and randomly toss together in the same tank, that don´t kill each other.
To me fishes that actually fit would be African Barbs, cichlids such as Rubricatochromis, or Chromoidotilapia, or puffers like Fahakas.
I like to know things like where my fish are accessed, such as, ïs the bichir from Lake Turkana* and if so,
I would focus tank mates to those specifically found in that Lake.
Although Angel fish or Amazonian tetras, or other South American or Asian fish species may work (in theory)
to me they are not geographicall correct, so not appropriate.
And may not be healthy ...overall.....in the same water parameters
This may not be your particular bent......I know I can get anal about this stuff...
