Never heard of a Leopard Ctenopoma living in brackish conditions.

i was going to say i was suprised when no one said anything....

Since I posted about it a while back I've actually seen several cases where they are kept in brackish conditions and seen here and there that they are found in brackish in the wild as well (not solely of course.) If he wasn't doing well I'd move him to a full fresh tank but as for now his colors are bright he's eating great and seems to be an all together happy fish. BTW nice tanks Haynchinook looks like we share a common problem with more tanks than places to put them, lol.

Actually the stupid thing is the one that comes out the top is doing the worst. The rest are doing great, they grow new leaves all the time. As far as care I just use Flourish once or twice a week. I think as long as they are not too far under they are okay. Like I said it's a grow out tank for the mangroves too, I wouldn't put them too far under. Mangroves are pretty hardy plants, i've had worse luck growing far less "exotic" aquarium plants.

The thing is it depends how much you want those mangroves to grow. They usually don't expand and become larger if they are submerged like that. Indeed, I don't actually know how long they will live submerged? I have grown mangroves in a pot (not in an aquarium) and they do just fine, but I don't know about under water?

I'm actually going to pull a couple out tomorrow and put them in flooded pots out in the sun to try to get them to grow faster and grow better roots. I need them to come out the top of a two foot tall tank and would like some nice roots on them as well.
