Tank planning...size question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thinking about it Nic, but Im having a hard time convincing myself to wait!! When I do move, it wont be a far move, no more than a half hour. Still, I know youre probably right, Ill figure somethin out. Not happenin for a couple months anyway, Im just dreaming for now

you could just do a 180 and grow out some motoro pups.... then when you upgrade use the tank for the sump of the 600.... sell the motoros and get the black rays...

Save your money and buy a real tank before you consider buying black rays..

P14s will stay smaller than both the Leo and Motoro.. Motoros can be aggressive eaters and tankmates, so make sure they are smaller than the black rays when they are introduced..(ie: let the black rays settle in for 6-12mo first.)

Maybe P14/Henleii might be a better choice for you? Someone was telling me the other day Henleii stay smaller and grow slower.. but Rudy's 30" female doesn't agree with that statement.

Either way.. tank first, rays later.

Henlei get just as large as Leo and grow at about the same pace. P14 are just impossible to get and there all being sold to asia for 3000 + for pups at the moment. There is a glass tank manufacturer that makes 36" wide tanks now, These are not custom tanks and are a stock item. I think it is AGA or Perfecto check with your local pet store and have them look into it for you. I would get a 72x36x28. That will hold you over for about 2 years max.

Thanks for clarifying that.. I kinda wondered.. ;)

Glad to know a manufacturer is producing a 36" tank too.. hopefully the price will go down..

I think Glass Cages.com sells 36" wide tank.

Nice, thanks a lot guys. Glasscages.com does sell 36" wide tanks!! Im psyched, I havent seen one that wasnt custom until now. Im definetly going to save up and buy a 72x36x25 from them when I can.

The new standard 36" wide is made by Perfecto (AKA Marineland, AKA United) They are much better quality than the glass cages.com tanks.

Agreed glasscages tanks are pieces of crap, We had 810 gallon from them blowout in the middle of a catering hall and when they sent a replacement tank, right after we filled the new tank it develeoped stress cracks within 24 hrs. There tanks are terrrible made and suck.
