I am starting this thread as a space for observations on a new product, the Tank Planters aquarium plant system. Tank Planters are not an entirely novel idea, but rather a proposed improvement on a plant care method that has been around for a long time--the management of aquarium plants in containers holding nutrient-rich substrates.
The Tank Planter design includes, among other features, a planter cup that closes shut with a threaded bottom covering.
There are a number of situations where aquarium hobbyists might find these things to be useful, including the following:

- boisterous fish (especially cichlids) that might uproot plants
- low-tech setups
- goldfish tanks
- indoor ponds
- plants that can grow to a large size (e.g. Echinodorus) or rapidly spread (e.g. Vallisneria)
