ok i live in a townhouse that was built in 1973 i was going to cut a piece of plywood to put under the stand to take the weight off the floor so i dont end up with a lop sided tank here in a couple of years i was just wondering if theres anything else i can do because im stumped besides that idea its a 75 and i want whatever it is to look as good as it possibly can any ideas?

I wouldn't worry about the plywood. The real thing you need to look out for is spanning the weight of the tank across multiple floor joists.

I guess I should as whether you have a basement, crawlspace, or a slab underneath the house.

crawlspace i considered and i mean briefly considered going down there and reinforcing the general area with more 2x4's but then remembered how bad it looked in there one time i peered in

Unfortunately, since your not on a "slap" you may want to crawl under there and make sure the beams aren't rotten and add a couple of extra supports. Take a flash light so you won't be so scared of the creepy crawlies and dark. Watch out for the rats though ;)

Unless the floor is crooked you don't need to put anything under the tank or reinforce the floor. The floor is designed to hold alot of wheight.
It's not like your putting all the weight in a square foot, it's spread out.

I had a 125 metal/slate, 70, and a 20 in my 10+12' bedroom and it was perfectly fine.

In most cases, your 75G is going to be fine without reinforcing. If you want to be positive, check which way you floor joists are running under the house and place the tank against an outside wall perpendicular to the floor joists.

The floor in the kitchen is uneven in some spots but theres not to much problem in my living room (spot for the tank) but im wanting to be sure no i wouldnt be worried if there wasnt some settling that has occored but that would righteously piss me off if started to go lopsided
