the lopsided thing wouldnt bother you at all..
the busted tank and 75 gallons of water/sand/fish on the floor would..

if you want to be sure... be sure.. go under the house and check.. in the last 40 years theres a chance that somethinghas changed and things are not how they once were... if you dont check you dont get to complain when things go wrong...

crawlspace i considered and i mean briefly considered going down there and reinforcing the general area with more 2x4's but then remembered how bad it looked in there one time i peered in

If it looks that bad under there then I would be more inclined to do it. I'm sure it would not fall through but I would check. When I was in my house in florida and was putting in a water bed I got under the house to add some support. (Old Wood Frame house) Build up and add cinder blocks if you are worried. AK is a humid state from what I remember which is hard on wood. If you are worried go with your gut instinct.

Just my 2 cents.

Lol I was meaning the spiders and Cobb webs I know how it sounded now I go back and read it but just to be sure I might go check..... Or hire a friend (hey I'll pay u 10 dollars to go under here take this drill and put up these boards haha)

Seriously if the joists look good, have no rot, and the floor is level then just put in the tank. A 75 only weighs appx 800# full. That includes water, gravel, tank/stand. your floor will hold it. If the floor is not level then you should look at a diy stand that you can level/shim. Those joists can hold a lot more than that tank, they hold your walls, and ultimately your roof, a second floor if you have one, furniture, and the people traffic, Plus houses were built well in the 70's

Stop freaking out about it.

Enjoy the tank,
