Tank resealing w/no silicon at all- 1700 Gallons

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I guess I owe an update.. here is the tank today. Gone. It sprung a leak again… but by that time, my interest waned enough that I didn’t feel it was worth resealing again. All in all, I got about 10 years out of it… about 5 years between each leak.

If I was to do anything differently and is probably good advice to any potential builder, its plan for it to leak. Most giant tanks that I’ve seen have leaks.. and more often than not, they’re insignificant. Both of my leaks were barely wetting the carpet over 24 hours. So my advice is to build it where it doesn’t matter if/when it leaks, not on the far side of a finished basement like I did.

Good run! And one of the OG builds on here in my opinion. Nice to hear from ya regardless of the news. It’s def. Not fun tearing them down i know well, but i hope one day ur inspired to maybe try again with what uv’e learned from this one 💀🤙. There wasn’t much info or anything to go off of back when and im sure you inspired alot of other people including myself to build something.

Sorry to read your last post. Your thread was inspirational to me, and I took I took a lot of what you wrote to heart - such has having drains close for easy purging of Ultimas. After reading that, I had two 3" floor drains placed when building our equipment room. Thank you for sharing your build journey with us.
