As the title says. I bought a 7x2x30" today for $200. Only catch, it needs resealed. He gave me the silicone to reseal it and had already scraped all the old silicone out. I plan on watching a video by uarujoey I was recommended, but, does anyone have some written advice? Thanks

Have seen on tv , the product calls flex seal. Try to put that on first then the silicon.
Just a thought. Never done it b4.

After removing silicone, wipe areas to be caulked with acetone (nail polish remover can be used). Get a good caulk gun (IMO the key to doing it right). Some people use masking tape to keep the edges straight. Start at the bottom. Apply an even bead all around and smooth out with finger. Then do all 4 vertical corners. Smooth with finger. Don't play with the caulk too much or you will make a mess.

Thanks joe. I have 3 tubes to do it will prob have to get more. I'm going to work on the stand tomorrow, try to silicone it on Wednesday if I'm off work

Seems like he did the hard part for you, sealing is easy - scraping is a pain. As others have said, make sure there's no residue, if there is, scrape away with a razor blade and clean it with acetone or rubbing alcohol. If you get silicone on the glass just let it dry and scrape it off, you'll just make a messy smear otherwise. Give it plenty of time to cure, it's pretty easy. Just have all the materials you'll need when you start.

Thanks a lot! I'm going to check all the seams tomorrow n make sure there's no left over residue. Clean all seams with alcohol, tape off , and reseal

use the back side of a spoon, finger is very inconsistent on larger tanks

Do it where it will be well ventilated and an area you can avoid for the few days it takes to cure. I just recently re sealed my tank, had no other option to do it right there in my bedroom. Fumes almost got the better of me.

What are your thoughts of doing it outside on my porch? It's been in the 40s here recently and I would have the most room to work on it there
