I have a peacock bass tank which I am setting up and considering putting rays in as well. I like natural driftwood for decoration, but how adversely does having this in the tank effect rays? And, basically, should I not have any at all if I want rays?

I personally don't like taking away a ray/s swimming area. Sand and maybe a nice piece of wood on the side of the tank since your tank is only 24" deep. I would also like to ask, what kind of ray are you going to be keeping?

I'm not sure. I've never kept rays before. With only 24" width tank... 9 feet long, I would prefer ones that don't get too big. Are there types that stay smaller? And what suggestions do you have?

I have two large pieces of driftwood in my tank with 2 points of contact on one and one point of contact on the other, doesnt really take away from the rays.

at that size I would look at purchasing mature marbles (that way you know you have a mini for sure) or hystrix

I have driftwood and plants all over my tank and my ray doesn't mind. Infact she likes to crawl all over them more than the large amount of open space I have left for her. That is my experience with my Motoro. The more space the better typically though.

Teacup is just a name for a young ray but normally refers to retics. They can be had to keep alive for a beginner.
