Justin, I think that's exactly what I'll have to do. I contacted the company and the background is made of fiberglass resin. There's no way I can cut that with my little handsaw.

I'm also worried about drilling holes in it. Hmm, can my electric drill go through this stuff?

Whom ever you talk to that has a table saw will likely have a drill press as well. You will probably need one to drill holes in it if you want larger holes. Smaller holes would be fine in the fiberglass resin with just your eletric drill. My suggestion to you is suse a small drill bit to drill a "pilot hole" then step up to a larger drill bit to your liking for the intended holes. A few smaller ones are just as effective as one or two large ones. Don't listen to the tough guys that say "it's easy, just punch right through". This is your BG and I'm sure you don't want to take any chances.

You can also PM Shyro77 (Matt at DBN) he works with the resin BG's as well and might have some personal advice/experience to share with you. It's worth asking at least, he is a really nice guy.

Ok awesome i really appreciate it.

Once u get everything installed please take some more pics.

Has he been swimming perfectly today as well???

Great, thanks for your help!

P.S. I just walked into the room and caught Jack taking a nice leisurely stroll around the top of the tank. Gotta love it! (In two days it will have been exactly 6 months since his swimbladder injury.)

One of my co-workers has a saw and is going to help me cut down the background, yay! Maybe in a week or so it'll be installed. :)

And I got another video. I'm so happy today. :D

It's good to see he is able to swim fairly well.

Wow really great improvement. From laying on the bottom to swimming all over the place during feeding time.

The most satisfaction I've got from fish keeping is healing a krib that was sick and hurt from previous owners.

You did a great job with Jack.

Thanks everyone! I definitely expect a full recovery from him. It seems like every day I see improvement in his swimming. I just can't believe it took him so long to recover. He didn't even start to improve until 5 months after the injury. I'm glad I didn't euthanize him... he's my little buddy. :)

Now that he is no longer drags himself all over the bottom, would you add substrate like sand?
