single piranha 30 gallons then each one after that add 20 gallons........ ( one at my local pet store thats in a 30 gal, been there for 19 or 20 years. competly healthy )

what are you useing for lighting? is there a hood? i want to do a planted tank but not sure if i should keep a top on it, i dono know if hes a jumper..... was thinking maybe a glass top, but then the light wont be as efficent

it's always good to have a glass lid, it prevents fish from jumping out (piranha isn't known for jumping but you never know).
wouldn't worry much about the lighting not being efficient, typical glass should transmit 90%+ of the light in visible spectrum and glass lids are pretty thin so you shouldn't worry much.
 
glass lids don't block out a noticable amount of light (even for plants) most of the light glass blocks out is in the UV spectrum which plants don't use anyway

Glass lid, Coralife Freshwater Aqualight power compacts, 400 watts. :D
 
if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for the lighting?
