I know it is hard to determine whether the volume difference or the water quality difference due to volume is the cause of these growth discrepancies. That's why I asked for all of your opinions. The two (vol & water quality) are closely linked for sure. It would take some well designed experiments to find out for sure, and it still may vary a little from species to species.

Has anyone tried this experiment with powerheads? Like think of a virtual treadmill in the water where the fish swim in the current. They'd be more fit and grow larger than those without powerheads?
Same thing sort of with tank size. If fish have more room to swim around, they grow more!
My personal experience with yellow labs. Also, feeding tons helps alot.
