ya i agree with GTbeast because a bigger tank (75) isnt any better than a smaller(55) tank with awsome lighting, plants, filter, decor, heater, and stuff like that. thats just my opinion.
Wow at 2" they had fry!? I never knew gt were like convicts. When my fish pair off and start breeding i find that their growth slows. I guess they put more of their energy towards breeding than growing. I think a 55g would be a good tank. You could probably put some giant danios, or if you upgraded to the 75g you could probably get some silver dollars.
Yeah, I was floored too, I "thought" I had a male and a female GT but wasn't 100% sure because of their size, woke up one morning and saw that there were eggs so one had to be female. A day later I saw that all but 2 or 3 were fertilized.
I have a 10" silver saum with some barbs as dithers in a 75. Even as a pair I think a 55 might be cramped at full grown sizes. I would definately go for the 75 IMO. I also would'nt suggest silver dollars in a 4' tank. I tried it. They are to active and cannot properly school together in a 4' tank. If you do want anything other than the two GT in the tank then I would say a 55 is too small for sure.
