Hey does anyone know how big of a tank I would need for a Common/Wild Oscar to have at least over 20 tank mates? And tank mates I'm considering Severums, earth eaters, pike and chocolate cichlid, silver dollars, pink tailed Chalceus, some plecos, flag tail characin, Rapheal cats and jaguar cats, and a freshwater Ray.

And a black ghost knife fish

I'd day 500 gallon

So many tank mates you ask, well I'd love to set up a huge acrylic tank to resemble a river bank from the Amazon. Right now I'm going small, I only have a pair of (Heros Notatus) spotted Severums, a chocolate and two spotted pike cichlid, one three spotted eartheater with more on the way, with a ghost fish, two snow ball plecos and a spotted Columbian pleco, 3 striped Rapheal cats, 2 tiger silver dollars, and a red tailed Chalceus in my 75 gallon. I'm upgrading soon to a 170 in about 4 months.

It's overstocked even with a 170 gallon. Show us some pics of the tank currently in

Most of the fish are over a half year old and are happy and healthy. The green Severum, Amazon puffer, and 4 other red tailed Chalceus I'm holding for a friend.
And I have a Aquatop canister filter with UV to handle all the waste, and I clean it and replace the carbon once a month, and I water change weekly, and I test the water weekly. Ammonia and Nitrite is always 0, and nitrate is only 10, ph at 6.8., and my water is soft.

why running carbon?
