hey im looking for a piranha for a 40galbreeder i dont want rbp at all realy

i want like a gold piranha or spilo

My question is Why do you want a Piranha? Becuase of their natural skittishness and semi-aggressive to aggressive fin-nippingness?

Exodon would be much Better in a 40gal Breeder IMO

^ if you dont own one u shouldnt give advice imo

and yeas for there slaying power muhahahhahha

piranhas are the stuff

and no serrasalmus are not skittish so....
and with a serrasalmus there is no fin nipping cause they are the only one in the tank.

if i did do rbp how many ? 5 ?

i dont realy want rbp because of them being skittish ( no decorations is the anwser) but as long as the feeding is coool lol

in a 40 breeder, you could put 1 natt.

if that is the only tank you can use, then a smaller serra species would be your best bet.

Rhoms arent skittish? Maybe your right, they are downright shy and antisocial till 10 inches or so from what I have seen , read, and experienced. Mine is 3 years old and just now starting to not be a basket case. Its still the shyest fish Ive ever owned.

Ok yea thanks guys I'm gonna probaly go with a gold piranha

i've owned plenty of small rhoms that were extremely active... my 7 inch rhom is as far from shy as you can get, he attacks the glass every time someone enters the room. i never even get to see him eat because he is too busy trying to attack me through the glass to even notice that i dropped food in... he has been that way since i brought him home.

don't get me wrong, there are definitely shy rhoms out there, but there are also plenty of interactive finger chasers, you just gotta look around rather than buying the first rhom you see.

if your main reason for wanting a P is their legendary aggressiveness, I might steer you elsewhere. They're all more shy than the most shy of cichlids. A lot of piranhas will not kill feeders until you leave the room. That said they're awesome fish, but you should know what your getting into before you buy one.
