tank size for piranha ( dont realy want rbp )

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea i watched this 6+ inch natt today that was definetly not shy he attack the glass when my fingers moved in front of the glass he is a real beast and he eats big gold fish and pellets :)
i might go with him he is realy cool no hiding at all

imo, serrasalmus tend to be more aggressive because they just cant tolerate other due to their solitary nature. Like others said, i found that finger chaser and aggressiveness do depend on personality of each individual specimen....it's amazing u found an aggressive nat., it's also depend how comfortable his surrounding is as well, i mean it might change when u move him and how he interacts in a group...whatever, good luck then.

if your main reason for wanting a P is their legendary aggressiveness, I might steer you elsewhere. They're all more shy than the most shy of cichlids. A lot of piranhas will not kill feeders until you leave the room. That said they're awesome fish, but you should know what your getting into before you buy one.

In my opinion this dude shouldn't be getting any piranha. He wants them for the "feeding show" and nothing more.

i think that the majority of the people involved in the hobby first got piranhas for similar reasons

Yeah, you're probably right. I don't think most people had the type of information we have at the tip of our fingertips though.

everybody has to learn somehow... i have seen plenty of people that got into the hobby for all the wrong reasons turn into responsible, ethical piranha keepers.

You're right. I just think everyone should get the same lecture i got from the seller...the they're not what you think they are lecture.

I'll just HOPE for the best. Nothing bothers me more then a disappointed owner

forgive me for my noobieness but can i get that lecture and tell me what they "realy are " ?
if you guys think i should not get piranhas then i will steer clear of them and go with something else that you guys have suggested

im not in it for just the " show" but because of there looks and there personalitys
but if as i said before i will not get them anf go with another fish(s)

also i didnt plan on feeding all feeders or maybe any at all due to the low nutrien of them and i realy like haikari pellets and i got a 5gal bucket about 1/2 full of them lol

we're not trying to piss on your parade, but you should be aware that P's don't live up the hype in real life.
